Recently in North Carolina, the former governor of the state Pat McCrory set forward a bill that would disallow transgender individuals from going into the bathroom of their new gender. With this, North Carolina was given a bad image by not only the media in North Carolina but across the country. As well, as a result of this bill that was passed a few months ago North Carolina has lost several big time events such as the Rolling Stones concert, the NBA All Star game, multiple ACC and NCAA tournaments, as well as numerous jobs and companies from the state. With this bill, the governor at the time hoped it would help keep people of opposite genders from entering the wrong bathroom and sexually assaulting the opposite gender. Instead it was a total backfire as it looked more like a anti LBGT law and it cost the state hundreds of millions of dollars from the state.

This bill was an absolute violation of the 1st amendment rights of the individuals in the transgender community. This law breaks the 1st amendment by disallowing the free speech of an individual that chooses that lifestyle. Even though the person may not be physically speaking and speaking for the LGBT community but by being a part of that community your are speaking for yourself with the life choices you make. And to rob people the ability to live peaceably in the state is robbing them of their 1st Amendment rights that they deserve and are entitled to by the constitution. The state of North Carolina has since put in effort to appeal this bill but the state can never get back the money they lost as a result of the bill and as well they will never be able to have their reputation recover fully.
